I don't mind a thread to be closed. I do mind a thread to be closed because someone demanding it, whilst not having added anything at all to the thread. Is than his label "sponsoring member" incorrect and should it not read "moderator".

If anyone doesn't like the thread for whatever reason, just don't read it. I'm pretty sure the thread had not, directly, a lot to do with photography. I've seen a number of threads pretty much alike. I don't think it was contagious in any way or form. It obviously was a subject some people were unclear as to the way why, what and how products they buy can be labeled. In other words, how much latitude does a marketeer have in promoting a label.

I'm still wondering why it was cut off. All threads on black or chrome cameras, bags, removing labels from a bag, are most likely as scientific and related to photography as the origin question.

Simultaneously, it had a lot to do with photography: emotion. Some people feel more comfortable with what can be reasoned and feel quite insecure with voicing feelings. Well, start accepting real life: more than a minor number of decisions in life are based on just that. Some/a lot of people feel the need to justify their emotional decision by "proving" it thru theory. Great! May work for technical questions, doesn't work in purchasing something that is emotional. Leica is emotional for a large part, nothing wrong with that. At the same time Leica is supporting the justifying of the emotional decision by rendering absolutely fabulous products. The technical quality, though, has very little to do with the tempting, gorgeous forms of the products and the marketing hype created for them.
