I've had my first ever problem with my 12 year old M7. After taking the roll of film out, the counter only goes to '15' and starts counting from there for the new roll. I'm using a motor drive, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. Any ideas or do I need to send it in for repair/

...had something similar happen to my M6 many years ago and had to take it in, Steve. It was easily fixed by Leica within a couple of days - the issue was caused by a foreign body that had somehow gotten in between the gears. Sounds like your camera might be due for service, so you might as well send it in. Incidentally, how old did you say your M7 was?

I'm estimating 10-12 years old....

I wouldn't be surprised re a foreign body inside. This camera has seen a LOT of film and outdoor scenics. Dust blowing everywhere, etc.....

Thanks for the response!

...based on what you have said, Steve, I would definitely send it in for service. Note that the M7 was launched in 2002.

Had the same problem a few months ago with my M6 from 1998.

I decided it was time for an CLA and went to Van Manen. He told me the dials used to be metal but were in plastic on newer Ms. Because the plastic weights less it is more sensitive for dust.
