Clandrel Posted February 8, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I noticed that my M8.2 rangefinder is not 100% correct at infinity. The pictures seem very sharp at most lengths, but since it is not lining up at infinty, I'm wondering what to do? Should I send it in for calibration? I've tried on both my 28 and 50 Summicrons, and they are both the same, so definetly the camera. Advise please... /c

RichardM8 Posted February 8, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 8, 2011 My 8.2 has the same. A very slight mis-alignment of the focus patches at (near) infinity. While a little annoying once you've noticed it, I've found that it doesn't affect the images at all. My dealer had a look too and it's needs to go to Leica for adjustment if I want it solved. No big deal but since the 'error' is so small I'm a little reluctant to do it. Richard.

You say the pictures are sharp at most distances, but you didn't say they are not sharp at infinity. Certainly, the rangefinder patch should line up at infinity. But since you're getting good pictures, I'd wait to have it adjusted till something else needs repair.
