WW2 vintage or earlier (?) . . . we disassembled and reassembled one in high school shop ! ! back to the photo . . . always love the way you photograph metal . . . perfect. Sorry about the misleading pun which really refers to the rotary engine that turns with the propeller attached. This is a radial piston engine which certainly does not revolve photographed in the hanger of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight stationed at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire. I could not read the manufacturer's identification plate but since the Avro Lancaster and Supermarine Spitfires there have Rolls Royce Merlin engines which are certainly not radial, I can only assume that it belongs to the flights Douglas Dakota and is a Pratt and Whitney R1830.
