a.g Posted February 1, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted February 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking for a simple case to use to transport my X1 in a briefcase or luggage. Nothing that attaches to the camera and not for using when I go out to shoot - something that simply & compactly protects my X1 when I travel (I don't need any room for accessories). I use an Artisan & Artist "Rina" case for my M9 & love it. Suggestions???
Advertisement Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Hi a.g, Take a look here In search of a simple case for X1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted February 1, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted February 1, 2011 A.G. I use a velcro sealed lens wrap for just that purpose. Lift a flap, extract the camera and action. Replace in wrap inside non-photo case or bag and it is safe and out of sight. Â I always have the Leica hand-grip, wrist strap and viewfinder attached. Also the smaller half of the Leica erc although that is not essential. It makes for a very neat safe package and is protected against abrasion when in a brief case or other container. Photojazz Posted February 1, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted February 1, 2011 I have one of these. My X1 came in, and I had nothing small to handle it, so I went everywhere locally including Wolf camera, Walmart, Shack, looking for something! I finally found one of these closeout priced at Office Depot: I do not even use the strap, I zip it around my cam strap and use camera strap to carry it by even when in case. pockets for memory, or a RRS small foot, , spare battery, whatever. It may be a little more case than you want, but it's flexible, so it is flexible to give a little. well padded to protect. Lea Murphy Posted February 3, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted February 3, 2011 If all you hope to do is protect it from dust and scratches with as small a wrapper as possible you might consider a Crown Royal bag. I use one all the time when I put my smaller gear in larger bags and want to protect it. Â Of course there is that problem of what to do with the bottle of Crown Royal...... a.g Posted February 4, 2011 Author Share #6 Â Posted February 4, 2011 I would like to protect it from dust & scratches - but also have a little bit of padding/protection in the smallest case possible.
Allnm Posted February 4, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted February 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use a National Geographic NG1152. It's about as small as it can be but my X1 fits in easily and there is ample padding. I keep the case inside a bigger bag, (NG Medium bag) the camera slots in and out easy enough. h00ligan Posted February 4, 2011 Share #8 Â Posted February 4, 2011 For those who use the neckstrap.. maybe something like this would work? Well not that one exactly, but something a bit larger?
saru Posted February 5, 2011 Share #9  Posted February 5, 2011 what about the original leica case? if you don't need more space than the space for the cam, it's cool. simple and nice design:  YouTube - Leica X1 Tasche http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/x1case.jpg  i'm very happy with it. h00ligan Posted February 8, 2011 Share #10 Â Posted February 8, 2011 The canon ex 430 II flash case fits the x1 perfectly, even with neckstrap. As I ordered a different carrying system for my dslr (backpack) I no longer 'need' to use the flash case. I noticed it loked a good size and sure enough it is heavily padded and will work fantastically for the x1 fitting inside a less insulated area of the bag, or briefcase, etc.
jtori Posted February 9, 2011 Share #11 Â Posted February 9, 2011 Check out the Lowepro Terraclime 50. I have one and believe it may meet your criteria: It's inexpensive, nicely made, compact, lightly padded and also has a shoulder strap. Â Joe. a.g Posted February 10, 2011 Author Share #13  Posted February 10, 2011 After much searching I have decided on the Case Logic QPB-202 Medium Camera and Flash Camcorder Case. It is almost the exact size as the X1 (5.7 x 3.7 x 2.0" for the case vs 4.9 x 2.3 x 1.8" for the X1) and has a nice plush fur-like padded inside. It is $12.72 from B&H. I cut off the exterior carrying strap rings to make it even more streamlined. Thanks for all the suggestions. Case Logic QPB-202 Medium Camera and Flash Camcorder QPB-202 B&H Welcome, dear visitor! h00ligan Posted February 10, 2011 Share #14 Â Posted February 10, 2011 Be careful of the zipper if you don't have a screen protector.. or on the non vulcanite finish!
elbonedeedo Posted February 13, 2011 Share #15 Â Posted February 13, 2011 I went with the Leica "Transit Case" myself. I like it; very well made and elegant but understated at the same time.
a.g Posted February 14, 2011 Author Share #16 Â Posted February 14, 2011 I actually preferred the Transit Case but because I have a Thumbs Up on my X1 - it does not fit!
