shinglj Posted January 31, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been trying to use my X1 for the past few days in the heatwave conditions we are experiencing on the east coast of Australia and I can say that whoever designed the LCD monitor never tested it on an Australian summer's day ! The LCD is unusable -you have to use it literally as a point and shoot camera . So an optical viewfinder is next on the shopping list . Despite this I am very pleased with the quality of the images and they compare well with my M6 images see some of both on The Rolling Road .
Advertisement Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Hi shinglj, Take a look here Viewfinder blues. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jimmy8269 Posted February 1, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 1, 2011 That's the same problem with other compact camera under the broad daylight too. So, buy the viewfinder and give yourself some practice before you go out and shoot !.. Cheers
shinglj Posted February 1, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted February 1, 2011 I beg to differ .My Canon G9's LCD is perfectly usable in the brightest conditions and I have just tried it and the X1 out together ( its 42°C and brilliant sunshine outside) and it is no contest . Leica need to do better . I have owned Leicas since 1968 so I am a very big fan -- but my enthusiasm is not not unconditional !
h00ligan Posted February 1, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2011 I find the complaints interesting.. I would complain last about the screen... and I live in an extremely bright place. Sure occasionally it is an issue.. or if I am wearing polarized sunglasses.. but for the most part, I don't have any real issues with it.
