Flmcamtec Posted January 31, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello forum members, I just joined today. I have shot with a new Leica V-Lux2 camera several times, even though I personally own a Canon SX1IS (2008). The cameras have many similarities and I am trying to help the Leica owner understand all the shooting pros and cons of the camera based on my experiences with the Canon. Both cameras can be a little frustrating at first. When it comes to an external flash, the Leica CF22 flash is recommended, but for such a little thing, it's terribly expensive. I use a reasonably priced 270EX by Canon, which talks to my camera, providing additional flash control menus in the settings windows. Since the Leica V-Lux2 is really a repackaged Panasonic Lumix FZ100 and the Lumix flash unit (DMW-FL220) costs almost a third of the Leica... would it be possible to use the Lumix flash on the V-Lux2? Has anyone tried this and I would be curious as to why it does or does not work. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

Hello Flmcamtec, I own a LEICA V-LUX 2 and have bought a PANASONIC DMW-FL360 flash. It works very well and without problems with the camera. I have used it in all possible modes (TTL, AUTO & MANUAL). I even have used it with a remote control device which allows to disconnect the flash from the camera and shoot by pointing the flash to points where you want the flashlight to illuminate the place. It is a HÄHNEL 2.4GHz FSK Combi TF Wireless Flah Remote. I paid about 60 EUR for it - but I think it is worth the money. You can also use it for remote shots (e.g. if you want to make outdoor shots in nature). The wireless adapter works up to a distance of about 150 m (amazon offers it under <Hähnel Combi TF 2,4GHz Funk-Fernauslöser für Panasonic DSLR-Kameras und Blitzgeräte>). It hope this info helps. kpschaefer
