damcats Posted February 19, 2011 Author Share #23 Posted February 19, 2011 I received my new replacement X1, but have not opened the box yet as I was in India for the last week. Hope to try the new X1 shortly and I will let you know if I see the same behavior. David
damcats Posted March 13, 2011 Author Share #24 Posted March 13, 2011 I wanted to get a couple shooting sessions in with my new replacement X1 before closing this thread. I have not had a reoccurrence of my earlier problem where pictures were being severely overexposed (it happened with regular frequency before). I am thrilled and enjoying my X1 more and more. The IQ is second to none in my opinion. I also have been enjoying my Ricoh GXR (I took this camera to India and was happy with the results), but I give the X1 a slight edge in IQ (very slight). Some pics from my replacement X1 are available at the links below. Tony Winkless Posted August 6, 2012 Share #26 Posted August 6, 2012 On the curious over-exposure issue, I have just experienced a similar problem. I have owned my X1 for just over one year, and taken many, many pix with it. Splendid camera to use. Splendid results. However, yesterday I found that, when using aperture priority, it consistently, in a variety of trials, over-exposed a lot at 2.8 and 4. At all other apertures there is is no problem. Spoke to Leica Mayfair: they say they have not heard of it. So sending camera back to dealer for check-out in Germany, unless they can find anything. Has your dealer offered to lend you a camera? Best wishes dunk

Tony Winkless Posted August 10, 2012 Share #29 Posted August 10, 2012 My X1, clearly over-exposing at 2.8 and 4, but not beyond at 5.6+, is now on its way to Germany via Stephens Premier, who agree that there is a clear fault.
Tony Winkless Posted October 31, 2012 Share #30 Posted October 31, 2012 My X1, clearly over-exposing at 2.8 and 4, but not beyond at 5.6+, is now on its way to Germany via Stephens Premier, who agree that there is a clear fault. Update: the camera was returned from Solms. Initially OK, but then it reverted to the same over-exposure fault. Sent again to Solms, with a rather strong complaint. I now have a new boxed one in replacement. So far no problems...

gnuyork Posted December 18, 2012 Share #32 Posted December 18, 2012 I purchased a Leica X1 a month ago, and overall I am very pleased with the camera. While using the camera, I began noticing some pictures were very overexposed, even though I was in Aperture priority and the shutter speed selected by camera was fine (no where near 1/2000 or over). Many times I would take another picture and the next picture would be fine, or I would change the aperture value one stop down and the picture would be well exposed. I tried a simple test below (nothing fancy, just a picture of my TV) and shot two pictures back to back. I have no logical explanation as to why the second shot is so overexposed and washed out given the exact same shutter speed, aperture and ISO were used. I am now beginning to think I have a defective camera as I have noticed this during all three outings with this camera and now with this simple test. I would appreciate any guidance or advice on this as I am very disappointed if I need to send this camera in for service (only have been using it a month after purchasing from B&H). Thanks Dave markleyimages.com Nothing fancy, just a picture of my amazing $100,000 hi fi set up...lol. I'm jealous!
