jamesm1291 Posted January 28, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have spent several long hours on discerning the best ways to encode my voigtlander lenses for my Leica M 8. I now feel that I get successful and reproducible results with the MatchTech M coding kit. There are two critical things to know in order to avoid failure. 1. Use only type 2 voigtlander adapters for screw mount lenses. 2. Use only the 28-90 adapter for the 12 and 15 mm ultra wide angle screw mount heliars. Any other focal length adapter will not work. For the wide angles, use the WATE tri-elmar code. The camera will then give you the choice of 16, 18, or 21 focal length at start up. Choose the 16 for the 12 and 15 mm heliars and it will show up in the play back EXIF file. Finally, make sure that the adapters are clean and free of any oil before using the provided marker tips in the coding template. This is easily done with a small bit of acetone, which cleans and dries instantly. The acetone also easily removes any other marked codes.
