David_Manning Posted January 25, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted January 25, 2011 Thanks for asking. It's an ongoing personal project. With the right resources, I'd like to finish it this autumn. I have a few images I'll put up. ----David. glamorgone.tumblr.com
David_Manning Posted January 25, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted January 25, 2011 These images were shot with an M6 and Zeiss Biogon 35/f2 lens. The film stocks were all b&w--a mix of c41 or traditional silver-halide...
David_Manning Posted January 26, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted January 26, 2011 I originally felt embarrassed about "asking for a handout" via Kickstarter for my project. But as I'm reading on Lightstalkers.org, several big names are doing the same thing. That, of course, doesn't fund my own, but the photo landscape (pardon the pun) is the same all over. Stories that need to be told are relying on private funding to come to fruition. Other photographers using Kickstarter: Ashley Gilbertson (asking for $15,000 to shoot 17 more pictures!!!) Larry Towell (he asked for, and received, $12,000 for an Afghanistan project, and then went to Italy on a retreat with his wife) I'm trying to fund $1,000 solely for materials (my project is film-based with an M6)...contact sheets, film, lab costs, book dummies, design, and meals as I travel to shoot (I'm paying for my own travel, by the way). Hope this makes a difference to the Leica community. Please share the link with any other sites, including Leica... bill k Posted January 26, 2011 Share #6 Posted January 26, 2011 David,Interesting project.I've spent lots of time observing airline employees and wonder how they cope.Back in the day the "stews" were very young and looking for a husband. I've noticed over the years the increase in age.Now it seems most of the attendants are nearing middle age and are dealing with marriage and raising families on the go The pilots are also more or less in the same boat.I hope this project will answer some of the questions.I've signed on with you and hope you have great success. David_Manning Posted February 1, 2011 Author Share #8 Posted February 1, 2011 It seems like crowdsourcing is a hot topic these days. Gerd Ludwig, Ashley Gilbertson, and Larry Towell are all touting their projects. Oh...and me, for all practical intents and purposes, a no-name
