Update - X1 adapter from SK Grimes

Just an idea (perhaps for the customizer JeTexas) wouldn't it be cool to have an adapter that looked like a Leica M lens on the outside in both form and writing / etc.? Maybe a 24 or 35mm elmarit?

I actually procured a 90mm and a 135mm Wetzlar to see if I could use real Leica glass or parts to build an adapter or converter. The 39mm diameter makes them far too narrow. I'd have to just cut a bunch of larger lenses up and piece parts together to make it look similar in style, but no matter what, it will be much fatter than an M lens.

Simplest is invariably best. I got my X1 adapter from SK Grimes (Adam Dau) about 5 or 6 weeks ago and with the addition of a UV filter as a lens protector and an easy on/off lens cap I am one exceedingly happy camper.

The advantage of the vented lens hood- the lens hood prevents the glare that occurs when sun hits the lens at the exact angles the hood prevents. The vent allows for you to see through it with your optical viewfinder, and reduces wind resistance in your biplane. :p

No difference with the UV filter- it's to protect the lens.
