Hello to all of you on the Leica user forum.

I live in the UK, and I have an Imacon 949 scanner, & I wondered if someone be be able to help me.

I've scanned 35mm landscape images from Nikon's & Canon's at 8000dpi and have been impressed with the results. However, a client sent me on various occasions images from his M7 (street shots on B&W FP4). The resulting scans were simply exemplary, but, the client only shoots street images in B&W.

I wondered if there was someone out there who has some tripod mounted landscape images of sufficient quality shot on Velvia who would be happy to let me scan them at 8000dpi and for them to reproduced in a weblog. The benefit to the provider would be that they would receive scans of their images at the highest possible quality.

Many thanks

Ian

Why would you need an 8000 dpi scan in order to display an image on a computer screen? The only reason why you would require a scan this big is for large format printing.

As a professional photographer, my question to you would be; are you willing to sign a usage agreement limiting your license to any images submitted to low-resolution web quality files?

Ian,

We tend not to use a tripod as the whole point of the Leica M cameras is for quality photography on the move in a small portable package. Keeping moving keeps you warm especially in the hills, fells, mountains as you take shots of the changing scenery.

As you live on the IOW (used to be in Hampshire) then that is not too far away. I'm sure something could be arranged.

What type of landscape shot are you thinking of? Seascape, mountains, rivers, Lakes?

Can you handle individually mounted 35mm slides or do you need the Velvia in film strips?

If you can afford an Imacon surely a Leica M with 35mm lens is about 1/10th the cost? What cameras do you currently have for your Imacon to scan? Hassy?

Regards, Lincoln
