Shootist Posted January 21, 2011 Share #101 Posted January 21, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) QUOTE:" I notice that the number is buried very deeply within PS. It took me awhile to find it. Not very user friendly". Where DID you find the serial number? I went to File>file info>camera data 1 (camera data 2) and got every other bit of info EXCEPT the serial number. "Advanced" wasn't very helpful either. Thanks in advance for any help with this.--martha If you use any newer version of PS you must also use Bridge or at least have it on your computer. Just open Bridge and look at the EXIF. The serial is there for all to see.
Advertisement Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Hi Shootist, Take a look here My Leica M9 got stolen. :((((. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted January 21, 2011 Share #102 Posted January 21, 2011 The message was meant for the guy who lost his camera. By the way, why is a girl playing with a Leica? Most women only play with point and shoot or autofocus cameras What a bigoted sexist remark. Do you many friend?

Most women only play with point and shoot or autofocus cameras Aren't you the guy who a few weeks ago hardly knew how to hold and focus with your M9? Something like: "help me my X1 takes sharper pictures than my M9", was your thread. Trust me there are plenty of ladies who run circles around you, one legged, blindfolded and full drunk, when it comes to shoot (Leica) RF or any other serious camera for that matter, and especially on this forum:eek:. deirdre Posted January 22, 2011 Share #104 Posted January 22, 2011 despite the fact that he neglected to put in a winking emoticon, i'd like to believe it was all in good fun. Well it didn't read that way and I'm sure that Mark2 can apologize for his behavior without you making excuses for him. Sadly, some men really do mean that, and it's better if one doesn't minimize or apologize for misbehavior. you have to be a little thick-skinned when you're a female photographer... especially when your name is androgynous (it really is just "cam") and people are surprised when they meet you that you're actually a girl No, I don't have to be thick-skinned. I'm here as a photographer, not as an object of ridicule. I'd like to believe that the 50% of humanity who are also interested in Leica cameras are also welcome here. Edited to add: if you're going to be an ally, try to be an ally to the women rather than the person who made the insensitive remark. I realize you're female, and I've certainly been "assumed male" myself, but still....

Edited to add: if you're going to be an ally, try to be an ally to the women rather than the person who made the insensitive remark. see above. i am here as a photographer, not as a feminist. i'll let you carry that torch, if you feel the need. i don't. ****************************************************** but, in the meanwhile, i would like to thank those (bill, Shootist, Ecaton) that came to my sex's defense. thank you. Indeed. I don't carry torches often, but every once in a while I realize I need to hold one for a moment. Good people here and good camera knowledge. I found out the reason why my M9 couldn't take sharp pictures was because it needed adjustments. This is what the service centre told me. After that it was fine. Most people at the forum were trying to tell me that I didn't know how to focus. Not smart advice, not many pointed out the real reason. Many tried to sound like experts. So it was coming from you ladies . No wonder.

Not smart advice, not many pointed out the real reason. Many tried to sound like experts. So it was coming from you ladies . No wonder. Okay Mark, you were right about your camera not focusing. That's a technical matter where it was either adjusted right or not. But that does not give you a free pass to badmouth the women on this forum. First, you are generalizing, which is is the highest form of prejudice; second, you're a bit nasty about it, and maybe deliberately so, smiley face notwithstanding. This forum has a lot of very classy and helpful people, women and men who visit here to help and be helped. That doesn't mean that every post is right, but I think people operate here in good faith. That's the social contract. If you don't like that, that is your problem.
coup de foudre Posted January 22, 2011 Share #109 Posted January 22, 2011 thank you, Alan... *********************** but smiley face or no, what i found truly offensive about Mark2's post was ridiculing the bad advice he got from the ladies. there were, in fact, no ladies on that thread. rather, he was calling all you men who were trying to be helpful "ladies" as an insult if he only knew... but he truly hasn't a clue. dorukt Posted January 25, 2011 Author Share #111 Posted January 25, 2011 Doruk, how can you leave your camera in the car especially in Istanbul?? At the beginning I was keeping my Leica M9 and two lenses in the safe box in my house, later I found it so unpractical , now I still have some obscessions, keeping them all in the wardrope in the second floor. I know some people in Istanbul in the second hand market of Leica, if you want I can give their mobile numbers, they may help you. I am very sorry for your camera.. okay... I'm running out of patience. It seems like you've changed your mind? cuz i get no any reponse to my pms. Sorry but I feel like you're ignoring me for some reason. Constable Posted January 26, 2011 Share #113 Posted January 26, 2011 Mods Maybe time to close this one. Everything useful and sympathetic to the OP has been said. The explosion of off-topic discussion is unacceptable both from content and inuendo, regardless of whether it is neutralised by a smiley or two.
