Must apologize here for my former outbursts...all is calm now in Leicaland haha... I read the article, a great read. In many ways consistent with my thinking but looking at the current state of manufacturers I think they are going for the uber sharp, detailed punchy colors, etc, etc. Leica stands alone I think in trying to preserve the film heritage in the new digital bodies, a feat which I believe cannot be achieved totally. Understandably so coz they do not make their own sensors and other digital components so as a relatively smaller player they will not have the resources to pursue this with enough muscle, and really at the mercy of makers of parts with different ideology. I watched "Tron" and I think Jeff Bridges' alter ego was completely computer generated (the face) and even with state-of-the-art wizardry certain portions had way too much tell-tale signs of "digital". I am sure digital art will improve by leaps and bounds but feel that it will never emulate film enough for the kind of "look". Same as the M9 and less so the X1. Some images come really close but others, well, to my eyes, digital. CJ
