phancj Posted January 7, 2011 Share #21 Â Posted January 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey Mr Dawkins, Â Haha our paths cross again! Â Must apologize here for my former outbursts...all is calm now in Leicaland haha... Â I read the article, a great read. In many ways consistent with my thinking but looking at the current state of manufacturers I think they are going for the uber sharp, detailed punchy colors, etc, etc. Leica stands alone I think in trying to preserve the film heritage in the new digital bodies, a feat which I believe cannot be achieved totally. Understandably so coz they do not make their own sensors and other digital components so as a relatively smaller player they will not have the resources to pursue this with enough muscle, and really at the mercy of makers of parts with different ideology. Â I watched "Tron" and I think Jeff Bridges' alter ego was completely computer generated (the face) and even with state-of-the-art wizardry certain portions had way too much tell-tale signs of "digital". I am sure digital art will improve by leaps and bounds but feel that it will never emulate film enough for the kind of "look". Â Same as the M9 and less so the X1. Some images come really close but others, well, to my eyes, digital. Â CJ
