Advertisement Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Hi Bartie, Take a look here North Wales Meet. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted January 1, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2011 I'd be "up for that" Where were you thinking?
Steve66 Posted January 1, 2011 Share #3 Posted January 1, 2011 Sounds a positive start to the new year, I'm new to the camera and site and and would really welcome a learning curve and meet. Probably be wise to rule out Anglesey tho. steve.
pgk Posted January 1, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 1, 2011 I'd be up for a N Wales meet. Location depends what people want to do - if a bit of walking and pleasant landscapes would appeal I can suggest Coedydd Aber (off the A55 about 4~5 miles east of Bangor) - nice cafe too (I could check opening times). Alternatives could include Llandudno, Conwy, Trefriw (a fascinating little place), etc.
wattsy Posted January 2, 2011 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2011 I might be up for it if it includes a walk up one of the 3000 footers. I can do cafés down here.
Bartie Posted January 7, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted January 7, 2011 I don`t think everyone is up to hiking up any of the 3000 footers in Snowdonia but Llandudno Conway or even Rhyl sound like a plan. Anymore suggestions guys. Andy
pgk Posted January 7, 2011 Share #7 Posted January 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd suggest Conwy then - plenty to see and the castle walls are always worth walking. The new marina (built on the site where some of the Mulberry Harbour building took place) has a certain charm in the right light too. I might be biased though as I'm only 7 miles away and always enjoy wandering around the place. When is the next question?
Douglasco Posted January 7, 2011 Share #8 Posted January 7, 2011 I will come along if west Brom are not at home on the weekend everyone chooses
Jimothy Posted January 7, 2011 Share #9 Posted January 7, 2011 I might be up for this, depending on the when. As a suggestion how about the pontcyssylte aqueduct at Trevor. Bartie Posted January 9, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted January 9, 2011 I think the next question is when ,where ,who and what time. Andy
jlancasterd Posted January 11, 2011 Share #11 Posted January 11, 2011 As I'm already in North Wales, I'd certainly be interested in taking part in a meet. I think it ought to be a little further into Wales than Pont Cysylte, however - that's almost England... What about Anglesey? Beaumaris has a lovely castle, a very Victorian courthouse and prison (complete with treadmill...) and there are some nice shots to be had around Menai Bridge. Plenty of pubs and teahouses too. What date are we thinking about? The charger for my M9's batteries has died and I'm awaiting another. With luck it shouldn't take too long to replace. In the meantime will I have to eke out the power in one fully charged battery and one half-charged (or use my D700...)
Bartie Posted January 12, 2011 Author Share #12 Posted January 12, 2011 I think we need to find out who wants to meet up and then fix a place and time.... Andy
andybarton Posted January 12, 2011 Share #13 Posted January 12, 2011 When we have organised these sorts of things in the past, it's much better for one person to grasp the nettle and say "We are meeting in the car park next to Conwy Castle at 10 am on Sunday 13th February * " Then people can say whether they can make it on that particular day. Otherwise, it's all a bit woolly - people will say "Yes, I'm interested, but it depends on when and where" and nothing will ever get organised. * Or whatever... "Organise it, and they will come"
jpattison Posted January 12, 2011 Share #14 Posted January 12, 2011 "We are meeting in the car park next to Conwy Castle at 10 am on Sunday 13th February " Great, now we know! see you there. John
andybarton Posted January 12, 2011 Share #15 Posted January 12, 2011 Well, it's just an example, but if it suits people then that's not a problem

al-fresco Posted January 13, 2011 Share #18 Posted January 13, 2011 North Wales is fine for me - I particularly like Anglesey for landscapes and, provided no one has blocked the A55, it's very easy to get to these days. Having said that Conwy is a pretty little town with a castle and a marina, Llandudno has a nice pier and Colwyn Bay has a Leica dealer!
pgk Posted January 13, 2011 Share #19 Posted January 13, 2011 "We are meeting in the car park next to Conwy Castle at 10 am on Sunday 13th February * " As a 'whatever' this sounds pretty good to me. So should we firm up on this time and date or would Saturday12th be better when places are open?
stunsworth Posted January 13, 2011 Share #20 Posted January 13, 2011 ...or would Saturday12th be better when places are open? Won't almost everything be open on a Sunday these days? It seemed that way when I was there last, but there might be specific things I missed or wasn't looking for.
