mgreernz Posted December 30, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I access the forum most often from an iPad or iPhone. While I appreciate the initiative that has been taken by the forum administrator to make the Leica forum compatible with the Forum Runner app for iPhone and iPad, the pop-up that now presents itself every time I attempt to access the forum via Safari is more than just irritating - it's a damned nuisance and an intrusion. The accessibility via ForumRunner is a great idea for those who wish to use it. But hey - it's a personal choice. How about killing the pop-up so those of us who wish to continue to access the forum via Safari can do so without being hassled every time?
Advertisement Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hi mgreernz, Take a look here Annoying ForumRunner pop-up. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted December 30, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2010 I might get that op up once a week. Do you have the "Keep yourself checked in" button checked?
stunsworth Posted December 30, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 30, 2010 I've only seen that once earlier in the week - on the iPad. Not seen it since.
mgreernz Posted December 30, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted December 30, 2010 Hi Andy - Yes, I'm permanently logged in on both. Like you, I was originally only getting the occasional popup. But in the past few days I'm getting it every time I switch between forum categories. I might try logging out and logging back in again.
mgreernz Posted December 30, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted December 30, 2010 Just in case anyone else runs into the same problem, a log out / log back in sequence seems to solve it. As for the original cause, it's anyone's guess.
Nickers Posted June 1, 2011 Share #6 Posted June 1, 2011 Having followed the log out / log in tip, sadly I still get this pop-up EVERY time I open a post, change forum area, sometimes it pops up 2 or 3 times whilst the next page is loading. If the forum supports the provider of this app and benefits from its sales I can understand its promotion, however, this bombardment of its users and supporters to buy an app out of sheer frustration is unacceptable. To me it is anyway. Nick p.s. I am not sure that this is specifically an iPad 2 issue (the iPad 2 does not have a 'notifications' setting unlike the original iPad) I will check the frequency of the pop-up on an iPad 1 and let the forum know. Nickers Posted June 1, 2011 Share #7 Posted June 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Okay, I have checked using my partners original iPad and I only got the pop-up prior to log on. After that, nothing. Seems to be a particular iPad 2 issue. (Turning notifications on / off in the iPad settings made on difference) Nick
marknorton Posted June 6, 2011 Share #8 Posted June 6, 2011 Can anybody say what ForumRunner does anyway? I get the annoying pop up as well.
3rdtrick Posted August 26, 2011 Share #9 Posted August 26, 2011 I have a Xoom tablet and got the pop up the first time. That is how I learned about Forumrunner being installed. I downloaded the app and it seems to work well but is not needed on the tablet as the browser works great. I have not had the pop up since the first time. Anyway, I am bringing up this old thread because I am wondering if the issue was resolved and how Forumrunner is working out for everyone. I am thinking of installing it on my own forum.
