Hi all,

I am Leica D-LUX 4 User since May 2009. I have been shooting so far with JPEG Settings. and recently shifted to RAW mode. And in Leica as we all know its .RWL format. So i want to know whats the best workflow for this mode of shooting.

I really need an application where i can just simply View my .RWL file. I know you can do it in Capture one pro or Lightroom or adobe photoshop but i am interested in just a simple viewer to view and to show my RAW images to friends & family and to make a slide show. Thats all. are there any such tools out there? a free RWL image viewer if any available?

Something like ACDSEE image viewer.

any help or info is appreciated. I would be happy to view RWL or RAW in windows explorer if that solution exists yet. I use Windows 7.

thanks all.

best,

Kamal

I use Macs so I don't know if any such program is available for Windows. I may be mistaken but if you shoot RAW / RWL only I think most programs you find that work will display the embedded JPG in the RAW / RWL file. The quality of such a JPG, IMHO, sucks. I think you'd be better served to shoot RAW / RWL plus JPG and then you can use any number of programs to display the JPG file and you'll have the RAW / RWL file for later processing if you want or need it.

I think Lightroom would be your best bet but maybe something like infraview (not sure if I spelled it correctly) might work.

As for slide shows again Lightroom does this.

Not sure if Win 7 has this built in but after loading Lightroom it may add that.

I'm on a XP PC right now and can't check, Win 7 at home.

I don't have a D-Lux but happen to have downloaded and installed the current version of IrfanView today. It doesn't know about .RWL files, although there is a plug-in for .RAW "raw image data".
