itsjakob Posted January 3, 2011 Author Share #21 Posted January 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yeah I had had the 28mm Elmarit asph on it which has the rubber hood so hadn't given it much thought. It was literally my second day with the lens! The M8 doesn't balance like it did with the 28mm so I may have to switch to a 35mm if I keep it (assuming that it won't lean forward when resting with a 35mm on it). I'll have a look at the 39mm screw hoods though.

Nicoleica Posted January 3, 2011 Share #22 Posted January 3, 2011 In its 40+ years of use, my Nikon F has attempted free flight on several occasions. It has collected a few small marks from the rough landings, but still works perfectly. It's so tough that I have named it .

But what mischief has Tigger inflicted on innocent tiled floors and raw concrete? Most horrendous was dropping the 2/35 'cron ASPH. Still working fine, PTL! I read one advantage of the M3/2/MP rewind crank over the canted M4/6/7 version was less damage if you dropped it. Thankfully, all Leica Ms seem to be built tough! Mikael Siirilä Posted January 17, 2011 Share #25 Posted January 17, 2011 M gear is valuable enough to get an insurance for. Dropping a body + lens onto a concrete pavement is just too expensive otherwise.
