thompsonkirk Posted December 30, 2010 Share #21 Posted December 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I really liked Bill's BW with the Sonnar. There's no doubt that in his hands, at least, it delivers a vintage look. I've been using pre-aspherical Summiluxes, 35 & 50, for digital BW, shot in low light & high ISOs, & then printing on Harman Glossy/Baryta Warmtone. I like converting digital files to BW because in LR & PS you can filter every color selectively. Reducing the noise in high-ISO files produces a kind of gentle diffusion that looks a lot like the Bill's Sonnar, & the resulting images look like older photos – except no grain! Kirk PS, I've noticed on buy-&-sell forums that quite a few people seem to buy a Sonnar & then want to sell it again. I guess they don't know how to handle it as well as Bill. bill Posted December 30, 2010 Share #22 Posted December 30, 2010 Praise indeed, Kirk. Thank you kindly. This lens has been a bit of a game-changer for me; I love the rendition and the performance already but I do feel that I am still just at the start of the learning curve! Regards, Bill
