I did once make some 16 x 20 inch, enlarger on its side projected to a wall develop in the bath, literally, (not married at the time :D ). They were from 'blad negs and looked great. I'm now on a water meter and I think that would cost more than the enlarger and lens.

I'm glad you enjoyed the film, I found it mesmeric and longed for another darkroom. I think back though to when I came to the conclusion that I'm a photographer not a printer.

That film is why I shy away from scanning, can't see the craft in it just another technical challenge.

Chris,

When I scan B&W film it seems to me that there is only really 0.5 stop latitude( just like slide film?). These 3 shots have 1 stop steps(or was it 0.5?), and really only the middle one gives me the full range without tweaking (digital dodge / burn). Perhaps it is really the same with wet printing where the printer person needs to get the right exposure and develop time for the correct contrast, paper etc. Even with 16-bit per colour files I can't seem to move things too far without getting a rough looking image, posterisation etc. Maybe there is an art to digital darkroom but you always need the best exposed source file, neg , slide as your starting point. Craft in the camera settings and craft in the darkroom (wet or digital).

Regards, Lincoln
