Nick Rains Posted December 21, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 21, 2010 Mark Dubovoy has now entered the S2 groupie field with his latest report: The Luminous Landscape And has become the target of the pro-stitching fraternity in the LL forum. You can stitch with any camera; comparing stitched images to MFDB images is a futile exercise IMHO.
albertknappmd Posted December 21, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 21, 2010 I found Mark's article to be exceedingly fair and comprehensive. I am enjoying my S2 & agree with his conclusions. Leica has found another niche area!

Stitching is a useful technique, I use it shooting from helicopters but it's not a replacement for a better camera. If it was I would be shooting on a Canon G12 or the like. You can't grab a scene with stitching as your basis. And if you must stitch then compare them both stitched. If after a days shoot I had to stitch all my images together to get the quality I needed, the time taken in post to finish the job would be days longer. The S2 is pretty much what I would want from a camera doing my work, it's a shame for me I can't justify the expense. The London Picture Library | Panoramic London aerial views Kevin.
