JosefSchachner Posted December 19, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I will be spending the Holidays in West Palm Beach, could somebody recommend a local Lab that would do 1h/1day processing (C41) and ev. some scanning? So the idea being to have the "Happy under the tree" pix the day after also as digi scan so whoever wants them can get a copy. And if there is some 2nd hand store that is worth a visit (Rolleiflexes being high on the wishlist this year ;-) just in case santa is reading along) I would not mind a hint. Thanks in advance (and heck yes, I will be going to Disneyworld too) Josef
Advertisement Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Hi JosefSchachner, Take a look here Miami over Christmas. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jacarape Posted December 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2010 Hola Jose, como esta? I lived in downtown Miami for 8 years. There was a pro lab that I would reccomend, they did my Tech Pan. However it has been some time. But while I was a customer there, the b+w tech that was really a treasure moved back home to England where the last time I goog'd his name he'd done some very good, awarded work. Miami's loss. So as your not asking for pro level stuff and it is probably gone form the city, a drug store 1 hour job is probably the only game in town. I have also walked the streets of downtown, getting passport photos, buying luggage and a city over I bought an overpriced but reliable F4s, Miami offerred little on classic machines. Some high end rentals and fading shops. But worth an afternoon walk. You'll see many stores catering to Central and South American toursts-digital. I'd like to reccommend 2 places, OT but important-food and drinks. Joe's Stone Crab. Stone Crab makes any, I mean any other crusteacean taste like a french fry. And also on the Miami River is another classic, Tobacco Road. A bar and grill that had three bands and a ribeye for 9.95 after 11:30PM. It was a very camera friendly place, I photographed there a few times with a big honker Contax 645 and attached Metz with 100 billion candle power, sort of. 100ISO. All were cool. Another on the Miami River is the Capitol Grill. Bests steaks I've ever had, I've had many. If I had a heart attack this moment, they'd all be worth it. I moved from Miami to Orlando to Pensacola then out. So nah, there isn't any classic cameras there that I saw, fast film processing other then el cheapo, but Miami is a great place to dance, drink, eat. JosefSchachner Posted December 20, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted December 20, 2010 Then I will just take my films back home and hope that the x-raying does not do anything to them..... Thanks for the tips, I certainly like a good steak :-)
clu08 Posted December 20, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 20, 2010 x-ray shouldn't harm your film unless you use faster speeds than iso 800...at least i was told so by a TSA guy when i was in ny recently
SteveYork Posted December 24, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 24, 2010 My hometown! There are two left. One Hour Photo on Okachobee in WPB proper. It's west of 95 by the intersection with Military Trail. And the other 2-3 miles down the road in Lake Worth; again west of 95. It's called something like Magic Minutes. And I think a couple of the photo shops still do c41 processing. And my local Costco still does c41 processing (Lantana). Lots of options, but I tend to send my film out. All except the Leica Store in downtown WPB. They'll sell you an analogue camera, but they won't develop film.
SteveYork Posted December 24, 2010 Share #6 Posted December 24, 2010 And all those places will scan, of course.
SteveYork Posted December 24, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 24, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Delray Beach (10 miles south of WPB) has one of the last old photo shops. They have a couple display cabinets of used equipment, but it's mostly 35mm. But they, the Leica Shop in WPB, Dales in Hollywood, and a place in Miami, are the Leica dealers in SE Florida. SteveYork Posted December 24, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 24, 2010 Now that I think a little, most of the drug stores (CVS and Walgreens) still do C41 down here with scanning options.
