pgk Posted December 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like this image BUT its a very familiar location to me so.....I find it difficult to be objective and it may simply appear to be a very ordinary picture to many. Advertisement Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Hi pgk, Take a look here Snow scene - critique sought. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Akemi-M Posted December 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 18, 2010 Paul, It is a nice image. The light quality and detail are excellent. However, the perspective is perhaps a bit mundane. I would suggest playing around a bit, such as moving in along the fence and having the fence lead the viewer to the house. Depending on your lens selection you could create some interesting views. Explore different times of day and lighting if possible (early evening as the lights glow warmly in the house and the just after the sun has dipped below the horizon). You could also try getting lower to the ground and allow the sky or foreground to dominate the image. In short, I think there a lot of possibilities, but sometimes the familiar are the most difficult to shoot. The challenge is shooting the familiar with fresh eyes. Again, the image and execution are well done. Thanks for reading my ramblings. Best regards, Robert
pauledell Posted December 19, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2010 Paul, A lovely picture that, as Robert has said, is worth experimenting with as far as composing differently. This is almost there as it is as a Christmas card picture. Lovely color, sharpness and atmosphere. Paul
