Leica Virgin Posted December 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I want to understand if the the film mode settings as well as the scene mode settings while shooting raw are being considered by camera or just being ignored. Are there specific settings raw? Thanks for your help.
Advertisement Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Hi Leica Virgin, Take a look here Learning Raw. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted December 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 8, 2010 Film modes are being ignored in RAW files. I have proved this to myself by taking a series of images in all the film modes and then loading them onto my computer and looking at them in Bridge and ACR. The only differences was in a slightly different white balance and tint +/-. This is the way it should be. RAW is RAW, no in camera processing. Not sure about scene modes as I don't use them but if scene mode allows shooting in RAW then I would say they don't have any effect. Again RAW is RAW and that is the way it should be. Now if you view the image on the cameras LCD then you may see a difference. That is because what you are really looking at on the cameras LCD is the embedded JPG in the RAW file. Which very well may have those in camera settings applied.
Leica Virgin Posted December 8, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted December 8, 2010 That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Thank you so much for clearing that up.
