lagrassa Posted December 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) My classic 1970 911T Targa as shot with my M8 and Summarit 35. I bought the car 8 years ago from the original owner. He had the body completely restored, and the engine rebuilt to "E" specs but the original Zenith carbs were kept. Total mileage on the car now is about 140K miles. The interior needs a few minor things to bring it up. Meanwhile, it is my Sunday driver only in the best of weather. MEB Posted December 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 5, 2010 Michael, Beautiful car. Where you live, it should last forever. Bring it up here to Michigan where we salt our roads and it will rust out in two years! Mark Blumer
lagrassa Posted December 5, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted December 5, 2010 Mark: Thanks, it will outlive all of us for sure. Oddly enough, the original owner whom I bought it from was a retired AF Lt Col and he had it with him in all parts of the country including the "bad weather" wintry states, so it did develop rust. That was all taken care of during the restoration which included some new panels, etc, and is now bone dry always and rust-free. These cars were not factory protected against rust to begin with. lagrassa Posted December 5, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted December 5, 2010 Kent: Thanks. Yes, the so-called "Early Cars", 65-73 are true to the original design, now considered to be timeless. Regards, Michael.
