Leica brass cassettes in M7

Early M6 were the last cameras to work with the brass cassettes. The M6 TTL would accept the base from an M6 and thus the required cam to open/close it would be in place and functional.

The body shell was modified for the M7 and MP and the cassette would no longer fit into the camera. There is no fix.

I no longer buy M cameras and will just soldier on with what I have.

There is always the option of not using a cassette at all. You just have to load the camera in the dark. Don`t laugh, it works.

Hi

The M5, M7 and MP don't work with IXMOO, the MP is a M7 with M6 meter, its chassis is designed for reading cassettes DX codes, it will foul IXMOO..

Late M6 don't have the correct baseplate but a technican can replace the base plate latch or you can swap- baseplates, with earlier cameras (M4 or later).

If you get a mini lab to give your their used cassettes then you can stick the bulk film on to the stub of the original film, the mini labs use an extractor, my friends say they never get scratches..

Hard if you buy a MP and want to use IXMOO, hope Leica make this clear.

I use M2 most of time, maintenance is just lube or shutter ribbons, spares have been difficult for decades..
