B Y Hee, can I ask you, before you bought the D-Lux 5 what were you using?

I'm thinking about downsizing from a DSLR camera because it gets little use and I would like to have a camera on me all the time.

Why did you chose the leica?

Before D Lux5, I'm using mainly manual focus SLR. Canon and Leica most of the time. Have a AE1, T90 and Leica R3 mot.

When the wave change to "digital" and then I only use normal compact until Ricoh came up with GRD (excelllent B & W jpeg pic if u ask me) and GX200. Then was considering between GX200 and Dlux 4 but chosen Ricoh instead. Now after the direct comparison with D Lux 4 and GX 200, I believe LX 5 or D lux 5 is the choice.

Between LX 5 and D Lux 5, I believe I chosen it not because of the red dot but as I mention when I started this thread is because of what i say on the lens color reflection. I believe these 2 cameras will give the same result but just I like what i see that's all.

It's also common knowledge on the internet of misinformation that the Panasonic cameras are made from the bits that Leica reject, and Panasonic have to make their jpegs look crappy on purpose, as part of their agreement with Leica.

Ah yes. I was told this by a camera salesperson when looking at a new digicam for a friend. 'Leica accepts one in thirty lenses for the DL5, and Panasonic get the rest'. Did he even notice the chrome M7 around my neck? Doofus.
