solvar Posted November 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, when can I expect that the "native" Apple software (iPhoto, Aperture) will recognize the raw format created at a Leica V-lux 2 camera? Currently, the only solution I have found is to use PSE with a raw2dng converter. Somehow this program does not successfully convert all pictures on the camera. ho_co Posted November 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 26, 2010 Tore-- Welcome to the forum! 1) As to when Apple will add the V-Lux RAW to its recognized formats, it's purely up to Apple. Could be soon; might be quite a while. I assume you're aware that Apple builds its RAW conversion coding into the OS, rather than into the particular applications. Other RAW converters do the conversions in the applications themselves. 2) I don't understand why the DNG converter isn't working properly for you. You are copying the V-Lux files to the computer, aren't you, and then running the DNG converter on them there? That process has always worked for me with other cameras, and all the files are properly converted.
sandymc Posted November 26, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 26, 2010 Currently, the only solution I have found is to use PSE with a raw2dng converter. Somehow this program does not successfully convert all pictures on the camera. Use the Adobe DNG converter: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 6.2 update Sandy
ho_co Posted November 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted November 26, 2010 Ohmigosh, Tore, I thought that strange name must be your personal abbreviation for the Adobe DNG Converter. My apology! Sandy is correct. Use the latest Adobe DNG Converter and you'll have no problem.
solvar Posted November 30, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted November 30, 2010 Thanks for your answers When I try to convert some RWL-files into DNG format it doesn't work. It has happenend 3 - 4 times on app. 300 pictures, - not often but still very annoying since I have not found any way to predict it yet. This perhaps an issue for the customer care then.. Meanwhile I have to wait for another OS upgrade :-) Tore Solvar
andybarton Posted November 30, 2010 Share #6 Posted November 30, 2010 Apple regularly release updates to their digital camera database, outside of OS updates.
observer Posted December 14, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) don't forget - to open all the raw files, you need to update your adobe camera raw to 6.3 which is currently in beta camera raw | Adobe Photoshop CS5 otherwise (pc or mac) you can't open raw files where the lens zoomed past 90mm -- adobe has documentation on this have found a more workable solution for controlling the noise - DFine v 2.107 works better than noise ninja in this case... observer Posted December 14, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 14, 2010 Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4917 6,3 is officially out --- this should fix your issues --- this means you have to have adobe ps cs5, newest lightroom, and latestr acr to really get full usage out of these features
