tacomadm18 Posted November 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) What off camera flash cord do I need to use for the d-lux 5. From what I can tell I need to use one made for the Olympus. Just want to confirm before I buy. P.S - anyone have a thought on a simple bracket for the d-lux 5? thanks glen

tacomadm18 Posted November 25, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted November 25, 2010 No one uses off flash with the leica d-lux5 or the lumix lx5,,,,,,,,,,,,,, HELP
wda Posted November 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 25, 2010 It is worth searching the forum with your question but widen it to include earlier D Lux cameras and other Leica digital cameras. I have a Nikon compatible one which I use occasionally with Digilux 2 and X1. It also works with M8/9 cameras. But I haven't yet tried it on a Panasonic based design apart from the Digilux 2. ho_co Posted November 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted November 26, 2010 glen-- I think the Olympus flash circuitry is the same as that of the D-Lux 5. That would also mean that an Olympus off-camera cord would work with it. There was a lot of talk about which flash to use with the D-Lux 4 right after it came out, so you should be able to get guidance by searching the forum, as David suggested. chuckw Posted November 26, 2010 Share #5 Posted November 26, 2010 I have found that the Canon Off-Camera Shoe Cord 2 works fine with the DL-5 and the CF 22 flash. It seams to maintain full TTL capabilities including bounce flash, use with a defuser etc. Any flash that works directly in the hot shoe of the DL-5 I would think would work with the Canon cord. tacomadm18 Posted November 30, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted November 30, 2010 So I just picked up a bracket also, so I have the cf-22 great leica flash for the camera, both on hot shoe or off with the bracket. Works like a champ,,, very happy with the solution.
jjonsalt Posted December 11, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 11, 2010 I'm not so sure that with a Metz 58 AF-1 I will miss an off camera shoe cord. At least in most situations.
