It appears that the site Tama Digital Photo Service is in Japanese only - so I for one am stymied.

Any Japanses speakers can shed some light?

Looks like a mod, it says Carl Zeiss on the top of it, also the looks like the lensmate one was scrapped as its no longer on their website, I emailed their sales dept and they never replied, I would love a decent looking lens hood for my X1.

I wonder if SK Grimes (S.K. Grimes Services for Large Format Photographers, CNC Photographer's Machinist) could be convinced to gin something up? Probably wouldn't be cheap, though. We'd be talking some custom machining work.

Good idea. You should contact them, mention there's a lot of pent up demand, and see what sort of pricing they'd do.

On the subject of LensMate, I received this email yesterday-

 

"We have decided to not make an adapter for the Leica X1 as the market share is quite small and does not warrant the manufacturing start up costs.

Thank you for your interest.

Regards, Susan / Lensmate"

 

I think that pretty safely indicates that LensMate is out of the running. I had originally contacted them sometime last Febr, at about the time I bought my X1 and I followed up with a query on 20/Nov.

 

Let's hear it for other possibilities. Because the threads are not a perfect match, I can't see the Nikon UR-E8 as a possibility, even if it were widely available. But if I could get it to engage by more than a quarter of a turn, I think it would be about perfect both as lens shade and filter/lens cap mount.

I e-mailed Grimes some months ago to ask him if he would make a hood. He replied yes but he needed a real X1 to make the measurements. I told him I was from outside the US and therefore could not bring mine in. I wonder if someone else had given him a camera to make the measurements?

 

In our correspondence he also said he could make one based on measurements done by someone else, but it has to be very precise.
