Canon Angle finder B

I just picked up a Canon Angle finder B for 75 bucks. I never thought of a conceivable reason why I would need one until I had one.

I like it.

Unfortunately, we all get older. My left eye doesn't seem to be focusing as well as it used to. I often find myself focusing and re-focusing. Well, here's the nifty trick. The Canon Angle finder B has a focusing tube built in to it. So, yes, I focus the lens and the Angle finder. It works like a charm. Razor sharp, bye-bye guess work.

Pretty good! It's a work-around for eye surgery, I guess.

Yes, I understand where you are coming from! I have the Leica angle finder, and I find I am increasingly using it as a focus aid for tripod work, mainly because it has a 2X magnifier facility. (On a tripod I have it angled sideways of course!)

Masjah, can you show it to me? I'd like to see the Leica version.

Edit: I just found it. Where did you buy yours Mas?

How securely does it fasten? With the canon, I've had to bend the pins slightly so it's little more snug. I'm a bit worried that this thing is going to find it's way in to deep snow tomorrow.

On the side of the Leica, there appears to be a little turning bit. Does that make the fit more snug?

Sfage, there are several variants of the right angle finder, depending on the camera. Mine is the latest 14300 version, but I honestly don't know the appropriate one for the SL2 - almost certainly not mine, I suspect. At least one of the earlier versions had prongs which clipped into the hotshoe - mine doesn't. (With mine you remove the standard eyecup, slide on the angle finder, and then twist the little locking knob to hold it tight.)
