janki Posted November 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) It appears, for the moment, to continue several threads about printers. From what I understand, only Canon and Epson can supply high quality enthusiast / semi professional desktop photo printers at the moment, ( A4 , A3, A2 ). I've read in reviews, that HP's new "Z design jet" printers with eight color cartridges, prints just as good as Epson's printers. And they are cheaper to run. However, the smallest model Z 3200 is too large for most amateurs. A few years ago, I read as well that Kodak wanted to become a major supplier of photo printers. It would be the perfectly natural that the world's leading producer of film and photographic chemicals through the ages, in the future would also be a leader in "digital" image processing. But so far, it looks like that “the old yellow giant" only half-heartedly drag around at the very bottom of the market, with its “all-in-one printers”. It is strange that Kodak has not been able to offer more in photo printers and inks, as they already are big suppliers of high quality photo paper for inkjet printers. Advertisement Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Hi janki, Take a look here Kodak as a manufacturer of photo printers?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tdavis Posted November 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 25, 2010 HP has such a wealth of printers: some of their smaller printers to consider are Photosmart Pro B8850 using 8 inks or even Photosmart B8550 using 5 inks (both A3 size). The DesignJet Z3200 uses earlier 12 ink technology and the new Z6200 8 Vivid ink model thus far only has 42" as its smallest version. See more at Printing Media & Equipment You are right about Kodak as only making A4 all-in-one printers. All of their printers do archival printing as defined by Kodak. Wilhelm Ratings, virtually the only place for archival printer ratings, uses different criteria to rate Kodak printers vs. Epsons, Cannon, HP etc. Tim
