dkCambridgeshire Posted November 13, 2010 Share #1  Posted November 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I need to buy a screen protector and have seen both Giottos and ACMAXX mentioned. Are there any others and can anyone who has them please post their opinions?  Thanks  dunk
Advertisement Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Hi dkCambridgeshire, Take a look here X1 Screen protectors:How many & which is best. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
RockyIII Posted November 13, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted November 13, 2010 I've tried Giottos, ACMAXX, and Lexerd. I much prefer the Giottos. Â Rocky
h00ligan Posted November 13, 2010 Share #3 Â Posted November 13, 2010 The acmaxxx I bought on eBay sometimes leaves a 'wet spot' look occasionally. It's where the plastic presses against the screen. It's not uncommon with hard screen protectors, nor is it always present. In fairness I haven't tried to reposition it. Additionally, it does its job, but i am very careful and it shows some scuffs already (kept inn a soft case always) wheras the ggs on my 7d has not a mark on it...The ggs I ordered for the x1, again from eBay, was completely the wrong size. it was too much of a pain to return it. I think the 'wet spot' look is because the acmaxxx is thicker than ggs, and the fitament, though the correct product is not as spot on as ggs on my 7d. Â I'm not thrilled with either on the x1 (the ggs on the 7d is good, maybe they just sent the wrong part for the x1) and at this point would be tempted to say, try giottos. Though I have no experience with them.
RockyIII Posted November 13, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted November 13, 2010 My ACMAXX screen protector had that same spot in the middle you describe from touching the LCD screen. The Giottos appears to be better quality, is more rigid, and fits perfectly. Â Rocky
dkCambridgeshire Posted November 13, 2010 Author Share #5  Posted November 13, 2010 Giottos seems to be the Biz ... so will order one.  Thanks for your help.  Cheers  dunk
soleforeal Posted November 15, 2010 Share #6 Â Posted November 15, 2010 Screen Patronas is very good. Â Don't buy the Zagg or Hoodman Hoodskins. The Hoodskins fall right off.
ChiILX1 Posted November 15, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted November 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Giotto's is 12 layers of real glass- what they should have put on a $2k camera to begin with. You know like an iphone has that is unscratchable? Â The Giotto's also resists glare and fingerprints brilliantly. It really is professional. Most screen protectors are gimmicks. This one isn't. phancj Posted November 15, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted November 15, 2010 IMO just use any one of the cellphone screen protectors and trim to size. Thats what I did. I have been doing this for the longest time and NONE of my phones/cameras/ DV players/ipods,etc etc has any scratches on them when I remove the protectors after long term use. Â The one that currently sits on my X1 screen is from Capdase and it is an extra piece that came with my case for the HTC HD2. Very good quality and clear, almost like there's no light loss. and thick enuf to protect. Â I do not think you gotta pay so much just for a protective film, but hey thats just me. wda Posted November 16, 2010 Share #13 Â Posted November 16, 2010 dunk, I am well pleased with the Vikuitiâ„¢ DQC160 protectors which I have on my X1 and M cameras. It is a high quality 3M product which was recommended some time ago in these forums. Mine does not peel, nor does it retain bubbles provided you follow the simple application guidelines. Furthermore, i simply forget it is there. I ordered on-line and it was posted from Germany.
