Welcome to the forum, st!

If I'm not mistaken, the V-Lux 2's video is QuickTime, while the Panasonic equivalent offers AVCHD Lite as well. (The cheaper, less-full-featured version of the Panasonic also offers QuickTime only.)

Leica D-Lux 5 - a set on Flickr

Yes, I am amazed. The Photos are really great. I have a D-Lux 5 for a few days. My first shots are disapointing:( - First shots1 and First shots 2 - I have a very lot of noise althogh the ISO is fixed at 200. It the noise which I didn't expect. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Or has the camera a defect? If Ican't find any answers I'll have bring it back to the shop.

With a small sensor, noise is always a problem. Try to keep the ISO as low as you can.

Why did you choose to set ISO at 200?

I use the D-Lux 4 at ISO 100 when I'm using a tripod, Auto ISO otherwise.

Don't you it shoud be possible taking photos with 200 or even 400, especially with a leica?

Have a look at the photos from ""soelin" above. The have hardly noise? Anyhow Thank you!

Not boasting, but being a curious guy, I purchased both the D-Lux 5 and the LX5.

Having fun with both. My wife and I can see not difference between the two.

After many years of toting around cameras with different lens, it is very nice to only have

a 12 oz. camera that shoots (to our eyes) almost as good as the M9 we own.

I'm not sure what your camera might be doing to produce noise at ISO 200. I have had a DL 5 for about two weeks and generally shoot at ISO 200 and am not seeing noise. Try checking all of your menu settings or, as you suggest, take it back and try another sample of the camera. I should clarify that I always shoot RAW and process in Lightroom so that may be a factor.
