Advertisement Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Hi tacomadm18, Take a look here Custom Settings. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
visoflex Posted November 13, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2010 On my D-lux5, I have set the camera up as follows P = General purpose colour. ISO limited to 400, zoom - optical only C1 - General purpose B&W (std), settings as above C2-1 - Colour optimised for quality. ISO limited to 80, zoom optical only, C2-2 - B&W optimised for quality. Settings as above C2-3 - Get out of jail setting (colour). Everything unlimited, EZ settings enabled, allowing a bit more zoom It's a personal settings regime, there are probably lots of different combinations that I haven't tried yet, but it worked for me on holiday with my LX-3, and I just transferred it to the new camera. It saved having to burrow around in sub-menus.
Shootist Posted November 13, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 13, 2010 The only time I use anything like custom settings is to set the camera back to a "SET" set of options I normally use after I have made changes for a certain reason. Since I always shoot in RAW, even though I may have the camera set to create JPG at the same time, I do any and all adjustments in post to the RAW file. I may send out the captured JPG if I don't first have time to adjust the RAW file and the JPG looks OK. Other then that I have no need or desire to use any custom settings. They seem to get in my way and are hard to remember. When I did use this feature on a Nikon D200 I would find myself forgetting I had set the camera to one of them, especially if that custom setting captured JPG only, and doing a whole series of shot with the wrong settings. Despe Posted December 12, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 12, 2010 Hi all, I'm new to this forum which, so far, is a real knowledge base ! Thanks for that! Now, regarding this thread, i must say i've been fighting for about 2 days trying to save my custom settings. I started with C1 and then went to C2-1 with B&W, max. Iso800, Max ap 1/30 etc. Issue is that each time turn on again my D5, these settings are lost. I parked the Selector on C1, "deleted" the previous settings in the "Config" menu and adjust the new settings. Then pressed "Menu/set". Did i miss something ? Many thanks, Despe
Despe Posted December 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 14, 2010 I finally figured it out (thanks to DPM, the french reseller in Marseille-Toulon). Obviously there's a lack in the User Guide. Thanks to all (but to Marc Létienne first :-))
