X1 full case from Luigi

Hi all,

 

Maybe you've seen this already. It took a long time but Luigi finally made a full case for the X1. I'm at splits to either buy an M9 (trading in the X1) or stay with the X1 and keep on shooting with it. The design is (functionally) comparable with the full case for the LX3 from Panny. I used this case intensively for a long time and it really worked well for me. If I decide to keep the X1, I will order this case immediately.

I've never understood the popularity of half cases available from various manufacturers. Most only seem to carry the camera (just a neck strap does this too) and leave the parts that need the most protection (lens, controls, display).... unprotected. Some have a flap that only protects the display and buttons on the back. But most don't.

 

Kudos to Luigi for making the first full case for the X1 ! (besides Leicas' own that I use now). Not cheap but looking very good imo.

Richard, the Luigi case looks a very fine product. However, for the times when I need a full-case, I find the Leica one perfectly practical, apart from the colour. I can live with that. Mostly I just use the half-case, which I really like, all carried in a lens-wrap inside any non-camera case for the day. The Leica case is very neatly sewn together and is almost the same shape as the Luigi version.

Richard don't know if you made your purchase but Luigi now has the "full" case (to respond to this thread's responder's comment" which turns itself into a half case

That is one ugly case.

Half case from Luigi makes sense (his full case is u-g-l-y!)

 

But, of course, the problem with the half case is that the X1's lens cap doesn't stay in place so there goes your lens protection. Look at the lens cross-eyed and the Leica-supplied cap pops right off!
