I am in the business for a new printer and want to go bigger than my current R2400. I was almost decided on the Epson 7900 but then read good things about the new Canons although I have not yet been able to find a good comparison (I saw the one on LL). Any advice welcome.

Thanks.

over the years i have owned many printers both professionally and personally.

the two i replaced recently were an epson 3800 and an hp z3100

last summer i purchased an epson 7900 and without a doubt it is the finest printer i have ever owned. the quality of the prints are stunning.

it is easy to use and very economical on ink. my rational for buying it was ,

a: i like making large prints b: it was about the same price after rebates

as a new lens for my M9 ( i don't "need" any more lenses ) c: the 7900 enables me to produce prints that maximize the potential of my leica lens.

i cannot comment on the canon as i have had very little experience with their printers.

should you decide to go with the 7900 i think you will be very satisfied with it.

hope this helps

cheers

Agreed, +1.

I also use the IP RIP to upsample the image so I can go 22" on the short side (I like an inch gutter on each side) and as long as I want on the long . Magnificent!
