SJP Posted October 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am going to upgrade my computer hardware & migrate from XP to Win 7. I was hoping that I could do an upgrade installation of Win 7 on top of my XP configuration so that all the software etc. would still work without any need for reinstalling. This however appears not to be advisable (or possible) although I read different opinions on that. (Comments?) Anyway, assuming I do need to perform a fresh Win 7 installation then what is the easiest procedure to get C1 up and running again? Do I need to uninstall it from my old system first? Otherwise they might think that I am using it on two systems. I am using C1-4.8.2 with the original Leica M8 "free" licence (light edition). C1 keeps reminding me that C1-5.2.1 is available but my free updates are used up, I still have 1 free activation. Advice is welcome.

Shootist Posted October 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2010 From what I have read, no personal experience as although I own Win 7 and have installed it on a HDD I can swap in and out of my main PC I am still using XP Pro, you need to do a clean install. Even IF you had another free upgrade that does not count toward the newest version 5. Those free upgrades are for version 4.x.
papimuzo Posted October 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 23, 2010 I can't comment on W 7 updating, but related to C1 I advise to first De-activate C1 on the XP system in order to keep the right to install C1 on the new system, activating it with the licence you own. I always do it even when updating version. I proceed so like a "new" install each time.
