Thinking of a big purchase and figured we'd have a little fun with this... and input!

Buying a used 35 'lux Asph - ~$3000-$3500

Here's my stock. WHAT to sell?

28 Elmarit

35 Nokton 1.4

40 Summicron

50 Noctilux

50 Summarit 1.5 with iron hood

50 Hexanon 2.0

50 Sonnar C 1.5

M8.2 Panda

Quick would be obviously the Nocti - but TOUGH emotionally!

Love to hear some thoughts. Don't need to make up all 3k, just most.

Thanks!

Ron

Hard to find $3000 (or something close to that) for you in there.

The 35 Nokton becomes redundant I think. With a 35 Lux, you'll never use the Nokton. Sell that.

The 40 Cron has its own signature, but unless you have a CL (or CLE) it's a weird focal length. Specially since you have both 35 and 50 focal length.

Is the M9 your only M if you sell the Panda M8.2? If you have a film M to back up the M9 I'd say sell the M8.2. That'll quickly put you significantly closer to your $3000 goal.

Just my 2 cents. (You only have $2999.98 to go :p)

28 Elmarit you may have to sell this as well to make up "most"

35 SUMMILUX 1.4

40 Summicron keep it for when you need a small lens

50 Noctilux keep it for you will not be able to afford it anymore

M8.2 Panda

This seems to me the most balanced set.

Thanks for the replies so far.

As for selling the M8.2...

The M's I own are

MP

M9

M8.2

The M8.2 is a bit special - I purchased it from Seal and it was made specifically for him in Panda(or reverse) config. It could be the only one of it's kind.

Any more comments are appreciated. Push me over the edge!!!

i've seen a couple of 2nd hand black/silver panda m8.2's over here selling for what was the new m8.2 price around march this year. if you feel sentimental about it, keep it, or maybe even better don't buy the 35lux. it takes a long time to collect the kind of kit you have and it's worth remembering that it will serve you really well into the future. you're right to want to keep the noctilux and along with the mp, those are the two bits of kit you never sell if you can help it.

I appreciate what you're saying here. The M8.2 was not made in Panda config - the M8 was. Are you sure about the M8.2's you saw? I suppose anyone can customize after the fact...

I'm not "sentimental" about it really - just like the backup and still love the clean files the M8.2 delivers.

I think you're right on about the Nocti and MP!

Best,

Ron

Thanks again. I was all set to sell all but the above mentioned, but I may hold onto the M8.2 as it's a collector. Of course, for the right price...... The other lenses will go and my 35 'lux will be here tomorrow !

Thani all
