Hektor6644 Posted October 20, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted October 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi: Â I got my X1 today and I'm getting between 6 - 7 seconds between photos. Is that normal or I am doing something wrong? I'm using Lexar 133x or Sandisk Xtreme III SD Cards. Â Thanks, Â Hektor
Advertisement Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Hi Hektor6644, Take a look here Question about shutter lag?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thephotofather Posted October 21, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted October 21, 2010 Six seconds shutter lag???????
JeTexas Posted October 21, 2010 Share #3 Â Posted October 21, 2010 Make sure you have it set to single shot, not burst. Also, if you tap the shutter button it will click the LCD back into live view faster.
Hektor6644 Posted October 21, 2010 Author Share #4 Â Posted October 21, 2010 Hi JE: Â Thanks. It works if I tap the shutter. Yes, I always shoot at single release even with the D700 except when shooting HDR. Â I'm thinking of getting a faster SDHC card. I'm still searching for it. h00ligan Posted October 21, 2010 Share #5  Posted October 21, 2010 First, you're talking about write time not shutter delay I think  Second, single shot mode, no it should take nowhere near that long.
Hektor6644 Posted October 21, 2010 Author Share #6 Â Posted October 21, 2010 Hi Edward: Â Thanks for your response. Â Yes, after I take shot A, it takes about 6-7 seconds to write to the SD card, before it is ready for shot B. It does not seem to be writing to the internal memory. Hektor6644 Posted October 21, 2010 Author Share #7  Posted October 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Everyone:  Thanks for all your help. There is nothing wrong with the writing speed. I used the take the photo and then wait to take the next one, after it finished writing. However, If I press the shutter half-way, the camera is ready to take the next photo almost instantaneously... after focusing again, which is slow. What I could not figure out is that it comes with a 50MB internal memory or buffer. Now, I can go to sleep.  What a gorgeous camera! That is all I can say, just gorgeous. One more thing, it is gorgeous.!  This is my very first photo with the X1:  http://www.hektorsphotos.com/Leica-X1/Leica-X1-General-Photos/X1-Test-Photos/untitled-1/1057320293_wupGs-X3.jpg  f/8, ISO:100, 1/500 - I forgot @24mm (36mm in 35mm format)  Hektor
wda Posted October 21, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted October 21, 2010 Shots are stored in buffer memory before writing to the card. You can shoot at least four quick shots with minimal delay. No shutter lag in my case. The only delay when you wait for the buffer to empty. Only a second or two.

Hektor6644 Posted October 21, 2010 Author Share #10 Â Posted October 21, 2010 Hi David: Â Mine is taking 6-7 seconds to write from the buffer to the SDHC card. It could be that I'm using 133x cards. I just rushed a SanDisk 4GB SDHC 300x. Let me see how it goes and if it makes a difference. If it does, I will have to upgrade the cards. However, it shouldn't. h00ligan Posted October 21, 2010 Share #11 Â Posted October 21, 2010 But even though the initial write time is slow, it doesn't lock out the camera right? If you can take another shot, outdo of burst mode it's not too much of an issue, but it would be nice if the write times were faster
Hektor6644 Posted October 21, 2010 Author Share #12 Â Posted October 21, 2010 Hi Edward: Â The writing speed was not an issue. The only thing that I was worried about is that there might something wrong with the X1 like a defective SD drive. I'm getting the faster SDHC. If worse comes to worse, I'll send the camera to Leica for repairs. I will not exchange it with B&H. Â Thanks, Â Hektor
JeTexas Posted October 21, 2010 Share #13 Â Posted October 21, 2010 There's nothing wrong with your X1. After you take a photo, it leaves the photo on the screen for your review for a set amount of time unless you tap the shutter button to return to live view to take another shot. I don't have mine with me at the office today, but I'm sure you can change or turn off the review time. Â Using an SDHC card that is certified as Class 6 or higher will improve write times. Definitely don't use anything lower than Class 4 or you'll be waiting for days.
Hektor6644 Posted October 21, 2010 Author Share #14 Â Posted October 21, 2010 Hi JE: Â Thanks for your response. I really do not mind the writing speed as long as there is nothing wrong with the X1. I was looking at my CF cards that I use with the D700 and the are all 300x. Therefore, 133x is not fast enough. B&H just notified me that the SanDisk 300x 4GB SDHC is on its way. Â Best regards, Â Hektor
