jrv Posted October 19, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there any way to have a filter installed *and* the front cap on? I'm looking at it and I can't see what they had in mind here. I guess I can put in a 72mm filter and a generic 72mm lens cap? But that can't be what they had in mind. Advertisement Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Hi jrv, Take a look here Summarit-S 120mm, filter *and* cap?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Constable Posted October 19, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2010 Jrv Just use the filter! The lens cap is redundant ( at least on my example) anyway. As son as I switch the camera on the lens activates, drives forward about 2mm and sends the lens cap fkying forward. On the positive side, I have got true 1:1 or better with achromatic filters .. Although the depth of field is now microns deep. Cheers Ed
dfarkas Posted October 20, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 20, 2010 I personally think the lens should have come with a 72mm front cap. The filter size is E72 as stated on the lens and in the product literature. Because of the telescoping design of the lens, I've had the same experience of the the 82mm front cap flying off the lens. I've already provided this feedback to Leica for whatever it's worth. David
