Retrac71 Posted November 2, 2010 Share #21 Posted November 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for sharing the photos and touting the M2. I spent a whole month's worth of my graduate student assistant salary for one in the mid 60's. I have had many other cameras come and since then, but the M2 remains. The bad news is that its weight is getting more difficult to carry, the good news is its weight reduces the effect of my shaky 70 year-old hands. Advertisement Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hi Retrac71, Take a look here Leica M2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Xmas Posted November 2, 2010 Share #22 Posted November 2, 2010 Hi R I can recall salivating when the M2 was announced on '58 or so, I now select a lens based on its weight and size rather than MTF, easier to carry, in smaller gbag. e.g. in 3.5cm the CV f/2.5 or Leitz preasph Lux... tobey bilek Posted November 2, 2010 Share #23 Posted November 2, 2010 LowePro sels (sold) a shoulder bag of proper width, about 6"tall and 9 long. FxB is the model I believe. Overall flap and zipper bag closure covered by the flap. Perfect for an M Leica or small Nilon DSLR like a D40. The hard cases protect well, but are just clunky and get in the way when shooting. lincoln_m Posted November 3, 2010 Share #24 Posted November 3, 2010 Bill, You'll end up regretting this sale. You know you should never sell Leica kit, or is that just lenses? Mind you I'm one to talk. I sold an M6TTL I took to Nepal to fund an M7. Then I found an M2 born in the same year as me 1965 that is in better nick than my MP of 2004. I hope I never sell the M2 but I need to use it a bit more. It's mint condition makes it feel a little too precious because of it's perfect match in age to me. I like Andys notes on using the MR-2 meter to keep an eye on the exposure without being too worried about +/-0.5 stop (reading between the lines). I might get a meter too. All the best, Lincoln
Xmas Posted November 3, 2010 Share #25 Posted November 3, 2010 Hi Lincoln Well if you want the same camera (as an M2) but a Quick loader More viewfinder frames Semi spot exposure meter and can forgo IXMOO tolerate more failure modes, meter, rewind clutch etc. spend the money That is the way to go. An MP is a little too rich for me, we are the poor cousins... Noel
