Dan States Posted October 12, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Milwaukee Art Museum has a very nice program on european design since 1985 and I was surprised to see a D-Lux digital camera in the collection. I suppose it was a cool looking camera so good on them, but too bad Leica hasn't given them an X1 to replace it! Advertisement Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hi Dan States, Take a look here the D-Lux as art object?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted October 12, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 12, 2010 Interesting heads-up, Dan! Boy, the D-Lux looks dated after only 7 years, doesn't it? Something like the way clothes and hairstyles from the 50's look today, even to those of us who wore them!

John Thawley Posted October 21, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 21, 2010 Well, they chose it for a design collection, not an image quality or technology collection. I'll tell you what, if it were the size of the X1 with updated specs (and in black) it would be a hot ticket. I happen to believe it deserves to be part of their show... it looks very nice. Actually, I wouldn't mind having one.

Dan States Posted October 21, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted October 21, 2010 It IS a cool looking camera and it fit well within the parameters of the show. The panasonic version looked quite different and pedestrian by comparison. I think they were on to something with the dramatic restyling of the body. Today, the Dlux4-5 are in different shells from their Leica cousins, but they generally look very similar. I don't think you would ever be able to guess the pedigree of the dlux unless they told you it was a Panasonic. I believe they would be better able to justify the price hike over a Panasonic twin if the handling/styling was as forward or dramatic as the dlux was. The fact that the X1 is essentially in a state of constant sell-out tells me that the market is clamoring for a stylish, good quality camera from Leica. I LOVE MY D2, TOO. ljj 7 good moves at 4 bad moves. looks like a good ratio. you should be happy! and you seems to be. until 2009 you where even, but 3 good moves makes the different. you are either getting a lot better in choices or more lucky. don't make any move, if that's possible. it's a great chance to be a bad move!
