swifty6 Posted October 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Message in viewer- memory card error-check card I have been using a Leica C Lux-1 camera with a 2 GB SD card. During a bicycle trip in Switzerland,The first time I noticed something wrong, was when I tried to take a photo and got an error message to check card. I then tried to upload photos to my iPad it would not work. After I got home, I tried to upload photos directly from the camera to my Apple iMac G-5, this too would not work. Finally using my card reader, the sd card was recognized as a generic source media disk. The message from the disk utility window was to try to repair the "disk" but the button for repair disk was not highlighted . Using the tab at the top of the disk utility window, I was able to copy an image. The light on my card reader was blinking so I could tell it was copying data. This took quite some time so I believe that a lot of data was being transferred. Now I have 2 versions of my sd card but I can't open it. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can open the SD card and get my photos. If this is not the correct forum, pleas forward me to the proper area? Advertisement Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Hi swifty6, Take a look here Leica C-Lux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jjonsalt Posted October 9, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 9, 2010 Yeah, I get that now and then, regardless of card size or brand, with my C-Lux 3. I just pop the card out and in again and it works fine, until next time.
pop Posted October 9, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 9, 2010 I would like to recommend the following Write-protect the problematic card by sliding the little switch into the "lock" position. Try gently cleaning the contacts of the card. Do not touch the contacts with your bare fingers, BTW. Repeatedly try reading it with your PC. Get yourself a new card. They're not expensive. swifty6 Posted October 9, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted October 9, 2010 Thanks for the replies. I think I am going to shop for a new camera. B&H has some new offering from the Leica line. My main goal is image quality ,image stabilization, and durability. This is for a compact camera that I can take on a bike trip. Hauling a tripod is not an option. Reviews or comments would be appreciated. What is the deal about complaints of the D-Lux and V-Lux being slow?
jjonsalt Posted October 10, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 10, 2010 Slow? In what way? If it's durability you want look at Canon's PowerShot D10.
