...sadly, the image quality, especially at ISO 400 and up, was terrible compared to the X1.

 

My experience, too, with small sensor compacts. Anything over 400 ISO is unusable, and even that can be marginal. X1 @ high ISO is superb -- as one review put it, the best, bar none. Depends how often you use high ISO of course, but it is a decider.

 

One wonders why they bother even adding high ISO settings to small-sensor compacts, considering the execrable IQ, except as a mere marketing ploy.
