Same in the middle of the desert noon sun. Never had a problem seeing the screen outdoors.

Yup, the Sonoran desert sun can be bright, just like here in SE Asia. I used to visit Tucson AZ yearly for work, love the weather and sights. Havent been there for 3 years I really do miss there, if not the rest of the States too. I just hope the bad economy blows over so I can pop over there with my X1 and churn out shots of all that huge cacti:D:D:D

I lived in Tucson for a couple of years when I was younger. The one fantastic thing there is the light pollution law. They engineered it so you can see all of the natural elements. The people are very friendly once you move away from the college area..although 99 cent margaritas are hard to pass up mid summer and regularly available sitting under the mist systems most places.

I dont however miss the scorpions (a ton) or havolina, which we actually had to shoot to save family dogs. I lived in sabino canyon up on the golf course.

Desert night driving is also excellent. Unfortunately I didn't find photography until a decade later...bummer!

Se Asia is one place i've yet to go, its on my short list. As a British expat I hear nothing but excellent travel stories from my family and friends still in the uk. When I make it we'll have to meet up !

haha the weather in Tucson even in summer may be hot but nowhere near as humid as SE Asia where it is just as bright, not so hot but feels so stuffy due to over 90% humidity??!!

I didint encounter what you did with the scorpions:eek: my closest to living in the wild was the sheraton el conquistador which was I recall a phenomenal hotel built like an oasis...

Asia is nice lots of places to see and shoot, happy to meet up when you're here in town:)

Went to the new Leica flagship store in Singapore, tried the M9 and the X1.

MAny will be surprised at my findings, with a lot going for the X1, and this is coming from a guy that is on the verge of shelling out for an M9.

I conclude, the X1's AF is important, the LCD is better hence the ability to judge if shots are in focus and last but not least, I dunno why but there is a two year warranty for the X1 but only a one-year warranty for the M9. Incredible but true.

I will wait for the 35 cron before I decide on the M9, they were out, so was the 50 lux. I tried the 28 cron.

I will post images in this forum later.

I can't even whisper fuji in the same breath with Leica. you have to realize what the camera is and what it is designed to do. It's not your wife's kids camera, this is a cam you take on street walks. It's a good architecture pocket cam. I thought about another DSLR, D7000, but then I am right back to large lenses, and no pocketability. I can sling the X1 strap over my neck, and drop the cam into a Columbia or Exofficio shirt pocket, and hardly know it's there. That's the value of this cam, then whip it out and get a shot that commands attention, but the camera doesn't.
