leicaM8freak Posted January 12, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, using the Noct (latest model), it is a bit of a pain the way the finder is blocked by the lens hood. I understand that some people removed the retractable hood altogether. That is what I am planning to do also Any advise on how to do this is welcome. And please, please no comments on "loss of value" and "buy a old model with removable hood", I have read those already Thanks

marknorton Posted January 12, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 12, 2007 Remove the three screws at 120 degree intervals just in front of the aperture ring and the filter holder pulls off. You need a screwdriver of the correct size and, depending on how picky you are, you'll want to protect the front edge of the aperture ring with tape while you are using the screwdriver to prevent it marring the finish, also some black enamel to touch up the screw heads. I think you'll find the grub screws are pointed and make indentations into the softer lens barrel, so when you refit the holder without lens hood, you'll want to make sure the screws re-engage in the same indentations - it will help to mark the position of one of the screws with a soft pencil.
