LuxBob Posted October 12, 2010 Share #21 Posted October 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I find the minis a waste of space, since you need the height. If you dont need the height then the nearest rubbish bin provides something that crumples to provide level and stable. Someone please convince me lightweight otherwise before...feb 2011. As one poster said table top means you need a table and what is better than a table for something on which to rest your camera? Or, as 250SWB recommends, a Feisol Travel Tripod. I have just purchased one of their superb carbon fibre tripods. I chose the Tournament instead of the Travel after talking with their support staff. Slightly heavier but easily portable. honcho Posted October 12, 2010 Share #22 Posted October 12, 2010 The Gitzo Traveller 1550T is the best lightweight and travel tripod I've ever used. Tiny packed size but easily takes any of my cameras from the Ricoh GRD2 to the Fuji GX617 with 300mm lens. Can't fault it. Guest BigSplash Posted October 12, 2010 Share #23 Posted October 12, 2010 I use the Leica tabletop tripod but with the old small ball head (available on ebay usually). I have the currently available large ball head which is excellent on a large tripod but much too big for travelling. The tabletop unit is not perfect as you need a tree, wall, telegraph pole etc to stand it on but it is a very good compromise between function, and low weight/size when folded.
