super7668 Posted September 30, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's really a pain to use case, need to dress and undress whenever I need to charge battery, take out the sd card....., and the case actually scratch the body and original cover. The camera can hardly stand straight with the case on too. Now without the case, it looks and feels much better! No more case, I love my naked M8.2! Advertisement Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Hi super7668, Take a look here No more case for my M8!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
AndersJ Posted September 30, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2010 Interesting to hear! I've been back and forth on weather to order a case from my M and GF1 but I've been suspecting it just wouldn't "feel" right handling it.. Cheers Anders
don_panko Posted September 30, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 30, 2010 A small postage stamp sized piece of skateboard grip tape placed where my thumb normally rests is all the 'case' that I need. I did make a simple loop strap where the camera hangs on a single ring which can slide on the loop. This way the camera remains protected inside of my jacket while travelling and always ready for use. Sometimes it's the simple things that are most useful. ramosa Posted October 3, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2010 interesting to ponder case versus no case. when i first got my M8 (my first RF ever), i got a luigi case to protect the camera. what i actually have found is that i like using the case as a means to dampening the shutter noise of the M8. the case definitely dulls the sound, making it quieter and of a lower pitch. Susan_NYC Posted October 3, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 3, 2010 I agree with the no-case people - too hard to have the camera ready when I want to take a shot. Sometimes I have to put the camera away, though - when I'm on a dark street without many people, or an empty subway platform. (I live in Manhattan) The easiest carrying thing, I've found, is a cotton drawstring bag slipped inside of a blister-bag that a bottle of wine came in. Or when the weather looks bad, I put the camera into the cotton bag and then into a waterproof sack I bought in the marine supply section of a sporting goods shop. And it goes into my backback or tote. The M8 is just small enough to fit into a tote bag. I learned the hard way to avoid putting the camera on the table or around my neck in a restaurant. (A chocolate egg cream got knocked down and drenched the camera and lens. Yech.)
stunsworth Posted October 4, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 4, 2010 I've never used a case on any of my Ms - M2/3/6/8. They're more trouble than they're worth IMHO.

We'll add this to the list of "fine-food-and-drink-mishaps" for the M8--along with kir. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/27130-adjusting-shutter-release-feel-3.html#post1402035
richfx Posted October 4, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 4, 2010 I've bought cases from Luigi and Mr. Zhou. Both are extremely nice and well made. After using both, I have come to the conclusion that the best M9 is a naked M9. Just my own perspective, but in addition to being much easier and faster to remove and swap flash cards and batteries, the camera feels better in my hands just as it came from the factory.
